THE HEART OF TIME

Each time the crystal has appeared, regardless of the world or time, its guardians have always been ready to defend it from all who would use it selfishly. One girl stands in the center of these ancient guardians, the object of their affections, and she holds within her the power of the crystal itself. This is the bearer of the crystal and the source of its power. The lines, however, blur and guarding the crystal slowly changes into guarding the priestess from the other guardians.
This is the wine from which the heart of darkness drinks. It is the opportunity to make the guardians of the crystal weak and susceptible to attack. The darkness craves the power of the crystal and also the girl as a man would crave a woman. Hence the entrance into another world where darkness is dominant within the world of light.

Le Lit: This is the name of the main character of "Tales from the Boudoir" and the heroine of the novel. "Le Lit" is French for "The Bed" and she is appropriately named. Le Lit is in fact a bed. At the beginning of the novel, the reader is not aware of the gender of Le Lit. She is delivered to her master, a woman named Victoria. Two men deliver Le Lit to Victoria. Le Lit is attracted instantly to one of these men and eventually falls madly in love. Victoria has an affair with one of the delivery men (Rand) and of course, they act out their physical love on Le Lit and that is how she falls in love with him.
Le Lit has amnesia, the result of the trauma of being cut down as a tree in the forest and made into a bed. Le Lit eventually remembers every detail of her former life. Le Lit befriends a male grandfather clock named "Horloge," which is French for "Clock." Horloge is old and wise and becomes Le Lit's moral compass of sorts.
Le Lit is pure and raw emotion in the beginning and it can be interpreted that Le Lit is the ID to her master, Victoria. The ID is a popular part of Freudian psychology; the ID is the part of the unconscious that controls the sexual, hunger, and other biological urges of the individual. The ID says, "I want what I want!" Le Lit is meant to be a literal character in "Tales from the Boudoir," as I intended to write a novel of a love story from the perspective of a bed.
